Dreaming of Cuba? It’s easier than you think.

For many travelers across Europe and the UK, Cuba is high on the dream-destination list — but questions around visas and U.S. travel sometimes create confusion.

The good news:

Traveling to Cuba is simple.
And yes — you can still visit the United States afterwards with just a little planning.

This guide explains everything clearly so you can travel confidently.

Entry to Cuba: Straightforward and Welcoming

Cuba gladly welcomes European visitors.
Most travelers obtain a tourist visa (eVisa or tourist card), usually arranged through your airline or by us.

If you are a U.S. citizen, travel is legal under the Support for the Cuban People category — something we specialize in.

Cuba Private Travel organizes everything in advance so your arrival is smooth and stress-free.

What if you want to visit the U.S. after Cuba?

If your passport normally allows you to enter the U.S. using ESTA (Visa Waiver Program), there is one important rule to know:

If you have visited Cuba after January 2021, ESTA may no longer be available for future U.S. trips.

But don’t worry — there’s a very straightforward alternative.

The solution

Apply for a B1/B2 Visitor Visa. It’s typically valid for up to 10 years, giving you long-term flexibility.

Is the visa application complicated?

Not really — it is a simple online form followed by a short appointment at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate. However, waiting times for visa interviews can vary by country and sometimes increase during busy travel seasons.

Because of this, we strongly recommend planning ahead:

If your U.S. plans are flexible in timing, you can travel to Cuba first and apply later.
If a U.S. trip is coming soon, it is best to apply for the visa before your Cuba travels.

Either way, the process is completely manageable with proper timing.
